From the gunpowder industry and Shepherd Neame brewery to the Magna Carta and evidence for prehistoric settlement, archeologist Pat Reid reveals the ancient market town in a whole new history, as described in Faversham In the Making: The Early Years – The Ice Ages Until AD 1550.
Using archeological and historical evidence the authors Patricia Reid, Michael Frohnsdorff and Duncan Harrington argue that there is a great deal more to this small town on the north Kent coast than is obvious at first glance. Supporting evidence is drawn from a variety of archeological sources (Victorian antiquarians, modern excavations, various voluntary and community archeology groups) and historical documents.
