Pam Ayres

Britain’s treasured poet Pam Ayres has been making the nation laugh for 50 years. She rose to fame after winning Opportunity Knocks in 1975 and is still one of the country’s favourite performance poets. Pam will be in Faversham performing from her new collection, Doggedly Onward: A Life in Poems. Not to be missed!

Pam is the author of many best-selling poetry collections, including The Works, With These Hands, Surgically Enhanced, You Made Me Late Again!, and Up In The Attic, and her autobiography, The Necessary Aptitude, was the UK’s bestselling female autobiography of 2011. She appears on TV and radio, having recorded six series of Ayres On the Air for BBC Radio 4, as a regular guest on Just A Minute, and one of the few guests who have appeared twice on Desert Island Discs. In 2022, aged 75, Pam was delighted to appear on stage at Glastonbury Festival.

Led By Donkeys

A vital reminder of the importance of direct action in turbulent times, Led By Donkeys will discuss their artistic acts of resistance against years of inept, corrupt Conservative rule in Britain. They will be in conversation with journalist, author and artist Siân Pattenden.

Led By Donkeys was founded in early 2019 when four friends started to paste up guerrilla billboards of the leading Brexiters’ historic tweets. They mix art and activism to create some of the most memorable images of our political age.

Siân Pattenden is a journalist, author, illustrator and artist. She has written for The Face, The Guardian, Independent, NME, Select and Smash Hits; and has published six children's books. She also works as an illustrator and an artist, producing artwork for record sleeves and videos for bands, and exhibiting her work worldwide.
