In this one-man show Simon Cole acts out his response to today's world – the war in Ukraine and increasing refugee crisis. Simon's story begins when, on a whim, he set out to retrace the footsteps of cultural icon Walter Benjamin across the Pyrenees while fleeing Nazi persecution in 1940. En route, Simon discovered the story of Lisa Fittko, a remarkable young Resistance fighter whose bravery would inspire his own transformational journey to work with refugees in Calais and Ukraine. This is a story of how we can respond to things seemingly out of our control and how past voices call us to action.

Simon Cole is a writer, activist and alternative tour guide. Hackney Tours is his main experimental travel project in East London, but he escapes to Kent under the guise of Half Day Holidays. He runs marathons and also works as a personal trainer.
