Come and discover the fascinating world of the medieval apothecary and the botanical, medicinal and mythological stories associated with plants. Inspired by Derek Jarman's garden without boundaries at Dungeness, we will look at how hope can be planted in the desert of illness. You will go away with a seed packet of words as starting points for your own creative writing and will be encouraged to add your own during the workshop where there will be opportunities to write or draw or both. With Alexandra Le Rossignol.
The Apothecary's Prescription is a creative writing dissertation produced for Alexandra's MA at Christ Church University Canterbury. A hybrid of poetry and prose it looks at the power of nature and story to keep us going in difficult times. The prescription comes with a warning – once you start researching you may find it hard to stop! This work was inspired by her research and The Royal Pharmaceutical Museum displays in London.
